Baritone Ralph Cato

has performed around the world, singing opera, oratorio, and other vocal masterworks to critical acclaim.

His operatic repertoire spans a wide range of lyric and dramatic baritone roles from Amonasro, “Aida”; Scarpia,  "Tosca";  Marcello,  “La Bohème”; to Tonio, “I Pagliacci” ; Figaro,  “The Barber of Seville”; and Sportin’ Life and Honey Man in “Porgy and Bess.” His featured oratorio performances include Orff’s “Carmina Burana,”Walton’s “Belshazzar’s Feast,” and Beethoven’s "Ninth Symphony", as well as works by Bach, Fauré, Mozart, Bruckner, Vaughan Williams and others.

In the late 1990's, Ralph joined the cast of the Irish dance show, Riverdance as a featured soloist, and performed throughout England, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the United States. He left the show at the end of 1998, but has since returned on several occasions for short tours including one in France in 2005, Ireland in the summer of 2006, and the UK in the spring of 2007.

In Europe, Ralph has performed with the Philharmonic in Cologne, Germany, and the Estonia National Symphony. In the United States, he performed with the Chicago Sinfonietta, Stockton Symphony, Pacific Symphony and Chorale, Angeles Chorale, Santa Barbara Choral Society, San Bernardino Symphony, Los Angeles Pops Orchestra, Los Angeles Baroque Orchestra, and several prominent Los Angeles choral organizations.

A native of New Orleans, Louisiana, Ralph graduated from Walter L. Cohen High School. He went on to earn a Master of Music degree from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of California, Los Angeles.

He is also a recipient of the key to the city of New Orleans (1993).
